CheckMySASSA.co.za publishes independent information to help South Africans understand SASSA grants, applications, status messages, payment processes, appeals and related procedures.
This Editorial Policy explains how we research, write, update and correct our content.
Our editorial purpose
Our purpose is to make complicated grant information easier to understand and use.
We aim to provide clear guidance on topics such as:
- SASSA grant applications.
- SRD grant status checks.
- Payment dates and payment delays.
- Appeals and reapplications.
- Banking and contact-detail updates.
- Common application and payment status messages.
- Official warnings and service announcements.
We do not approve applications, determine eligibility, issue payments, change personal details or decide appeals.
Our independence
CheckMySASSA.co.za is not SASSA, the Department of Social Development or an official government website.
We publish independently and do not claim government endorsement. Advertising, affiliate relationships or commercial considerations do not determine whether official information is included, removed or presented as fact.
Advertisements are kept separate from editorial content. The appearance of an advertisement does not mean that we endorse the advertiser, service or product.
Our sources
We give priority to primary and authoritative sources, including:
- The official SASSA website.
- The official SRD portal.
- The Department of Social Development.
- The Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals.
- The South African Government website.
- Official government regulations, notices and statements.
- Verified announcements from SASSA and relevant government departments.
News reports and social-media posts may help us identify a development, but important claims should be checked against an official source whenever possible.
When no official confirmation is available, we will avoid presenting speculation, unofficial payment calendars or unverified claims as established facts.
Payment-date reporting
Permanent social grants and the SRD grant do not always follow the same payment system.
When reporting payment dates, we distinguish between:
- Official scheduled dates for permanent social grants.
- Month-specific SRD processing windows.
- The individual payday shown to an approved SRD beneficiary.
- The additional time a bank may take to reflect a processed payment.
We do not treat an estimated or frequently repeated SRD payment window as an officially confirmed date unless an authorised source has confirmed it.
Status messages and troubleshooting
We explain status messages in plain language while recognising that SASSA makes the final decision on each application.
A status explanation is general guidance. It does not guarantee that a particular application will be approved, paid or resolved within a specific period.
Where a status can have more than one cause, we aim to explain the uncertainty and direct readers to the correct official service.
Appeals and applications
We link readers to official government portals for applications, appeals, status checks and personal-detail changes.
We do not submit applications or appeals on behalf of readers. We will never ask a reader to send us:
- A South African identity number.
- Banking details.
- A SASSA PIN or one-time password.
- Login credentials.
- Copies of identity documents.
- Information required to access a grant account.
Readers should enter sensitive information only on a verified official platform.
Accuracy and updates
We review time-sensitive information when new official announcements are issued.
An article may be updated when:
- Payment dates or processing periods are confirmed.
- Application or appeal procedures change.
- Official portal addresses change.
- Banking-detail requirements change.
- SASSA introduces a new verification or security process.
- A status message receives a new or clarified meaning.
- A previous statement becomes outdated or incorrect.
The updated date on a page may change when its substance has been revised. Minor spelling, formatting or technical changes may not result in a new update date.
Corrections
We correct material errors as soon as they are confirmed.
A correction may involve:
- Replacing an incorrect date or amount.
- Removing an outdated instruction.
- Clarifying the difference between SRD and permanent grants.
- Replacing an unofficial link with an official one.
- Adding context that changes how a reader should act.
- Marking information as unconfirmed when verification is incomplete.
Significant corrections may be explained in an editor’s note so readers can understand what changed.
Uncertainty and developing information
Official information can be delayed, incomplete or changed after publication.
When facts are still developing, we may use wording such as “not yet officially confirmed,” “subject to confirmation” or “based on the latest available official notice.” We will update the content when stronger evidence becomes available.
We do not publish rumours about grant increases, double payments, special bonuses or changed eligibility rules without reliable official confirmation.
Use of automated tools
We may use digital or automated tools to support research, monitor public announcements, check links, identify outdated pages or assist with drafting.
Editorial responsibility stays with CheckMySASSA.co.za. Important dates, eligibility conditions, procedures and official links should be checked against reliable sources before publication.
We do not publish automated output as verified information without review.
Reader contributions and corrections
Readers can report an error, outdated link or unclear explanation by emailing:
Email: support@checkmysassa.co.za
Please include the page address and a short description of the issue. Do not include your identity number, banking details, PIN, password or other confidential information.
We review correction requests, but we cannot investigate an individual grant application or contact SASSA on a reader’s behalf.
